Odessa, Ukraine's Largest Logistics Hub
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] On the morning of the 3rd, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it destroyed one oil refinery and three fuel storage facilities in Odesa Oblast, a logistics hub in southwestern Ukraine.
According to Russian state-run news agencies TASS and Sputnik, the Ministry of Defense stated in a briefing that four facilities supplying fuel and lubricants were destroyed by high-precision missile strikes from Russian warships and fighter jets. These facilities also support the Ukrainian forces in the neighboring Mykolaiv region.
Anton Herashchenko, advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, said on Telegram, "Odesa was airstruck," adding, "As a result, fires broke out in some areas, and our air defense system intercepted some of the incoming missiles."
Other major foreign media outlets also reported multiple explosions and smoke sightings near Odesa on the same day.

Odesa is Ukraine's largest logistics hub and one of its strategic strongholds. In particular, Odesa Oblast faces the Black Sea and has the most ports in Ukraine, serving as a gateway for the country. If Russian forces capture Odesa Oblast, they would be able to control the southern coast of Ukraine.
