Democratic Party Announces Rigorous Scrutiny of Prime Minister Candidate Han Deok-su
"Will Thoroughly Examine at the Hearing"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Democratic Party of Korea has announced a rigorous scrutiny of Han Duck-soo, the former Prime Minister nominated as the first Prime Minister candidate of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, stating that they will "thoroughly examine him during the confirmation hearing."
On the 3rd, Lee Soo-jin, the party's floor spokesperson, said at a National Assembly briefing, "Once the request for the Prime Minister confirmation hearing is submitted to the National Assembly, the Democratic Party will thoroughly verify Han's commitment to national unity, his capability to address South Korea's core challenges, and his democratic principles as a responsible Prime Minister candidate."
He added, "Unlike 15 years ago when Han served as Prime Minister, South Korea now faces qualitatively different issues such as overcoming the climate crisis and achieving carbon neutrality, the new Cold War international order, and aging population," emphasizing that "a future development strategy for South Korea that fits these changed conditions is necessary."
