Yoon Suk-yeol Meets with Ambassadors of Five Gulf Cooperation Council Countries in South Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol met with the ambassadorial delegation of the five Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in South Korea on the 1st.
Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for President-elect Yoon, stated that Yoon met with the ambassadorial delegation of the five GCC countries in South Korea for one hour starting at 2 p.m. that day.
The GCC is a cooperative organization established in May 1981, consisting of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Oman. The GCC officials who met with President-elect Yoon included Al-Awadi, Ambassador of Kuwait to South Korea; Al-Sadhan, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to South Korea; Al-Sadi, Ambassador of Oman to South Korea; Al-Kuwari, Charg? d'affaires of Qatar to South Korea; and Al-Samahi, Charg? d'affaires of the UAE to South Korea.
Spokesperson Kim conveyed, "President-elect Yoon said that meeting the GCC ambassadorial delegation in South Korea ahead of Ramadan is especially meaningful, and he highly appreciates the mutually beneficial cooperative relationship built between our country and the GCC nations, focusing on energy and construction/infrastructure sectors."
In particular, "President-elect Yoon emphasized that amid increasing uncertainties in the global energy market, he values the strong ties between Korea and the GCC countries in the energy sector, and after taking office, he plans to expand cooperation with the GCC countries across various fields including renewable energy, defense and military industry, agriculture, health and medical care, education, and culture," the spokesperson explained.

The GCC ambassadorial delegation in South Korea also agreed that the relationship between Korea and the GCC countries will deepen further, and they responded by pledging to actively work to broaden mutual understanding and exchanges between the Korean and Arab peoples, Spokesperson Kim added.
