View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol met with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ambassadors to South Korea on the 1st and urged them to strengthen cooperation.
In his opening remarks, President-elect Yoon said, "Our country and the GCC nations have long established deep cooperative relationships centered on energy and construction infrastructure," adding, "Since the 1970s, our companies have entered the Middle East and made significant contributions to the growth of the Korean economy."
He continued, "Cooperation with the GCC countries will expand greatly into various fields such as defense industry, agriculture, healthcare, and culture," and requested, "I ask the ambassadors to make greater efforts to strengthen this cooperation."

He emphasized, "Once I take office, I will activate high-level exchanges with the GCC countries from the early stages of my term," and added, "I hope that the Korea-GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations will be concluded, creating a framework for expanding cooperation between both sides."
