Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee: "Full-scale DX Integration... Pursuing Synergy, Future Preparedness, and Collaboration"
First 'Town Hall Meeting' After DX Integration
Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics, held his first 'Town Hall Meeting' since the integration of the DX (Device Experience·Set) division, engaging in communication with employees. Vice Chairman Han's communication efforts are seen as part of an initiative to foster a horizontal organizational culture and simultaneously strengthen unity in line with the transformation into a 'New Samsung.'
According to Samsung Electronics on the 1st, Vice Chairman Han presided over the 'DX Connect' event at the Suwon headquarters building. This event marked the first internal communication occasion following the integration of the DX division.
Previously, Samsung Electronics launched the new DX division at the end of last year by integrating the existing CE (Consumer Electronics) and IM (IT·Mobile) finished product divisions. The aim is to break down barriers between organizations such as TV, home appliances, and smartphones to maximize synergy among products and create a 'One Samsung.'
Considering the COVID-19 situation, the event was held simultaneously online and offline, with employees from all DX business units participating, including VD (Visual Display), MX (Mobile), DA (Digital Appliances), Networks, and Medical Devices.
In his greeting, Vice Chairman Han emphasized, "The DX integration is the first step toward becoming a customer-centric company." To this end, he stated that three key areas would be focused on: ▲integration synergy ▲future readiness ▲inter-organizational collaboration.
Regarding the creation of integration synergy, he said, "We will break down barriers between products and organically connect all devices to provide customers with smart device experiences," adding, "We will transform into a company that turns customers' imaginations into experiences and leads new lifestyles."
He also pledged to expand the discovery of future growth engines. He expressed, "We will enhance competitiveness in promising future fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and robotics, and strengthen the system for discovering new businesses."
Earlier, at the shareholders' meeting held on the 16th of last month, Vice Chairman Han announced a vision to focus on 'robots and the metaverse (extended virtual world)' as new growth engines. His strong determination is to release new robot products and metaverse platform devices within the year, based on strengthening specialized organizations.
He also called for expanded collaboration and communication among organizations. He stated, "We will increase the flexibility of personnel management by expanding the integrated personnel operation system, as well as the rotational work currently being implemented in part." This is interpreted as part of efforts to maximize organic cooperation within the DX division to create 'One Samsung.'
Prior to the town hall meeting, Vice Chairman Han reportedly made considerable efforts to communicate with employees. Specifically, he listened to various opinions on key DX integration tasks, future vision, communication expansion plans, and company and employee growth, and personally responded to employees. Additionally, during the Q&A session following his greeting, he candidly communicated with employees about recently emerging topics within Samsung Electronics, such as compensation policies, welfare systems, and aging workforce measures.
