"For a Busan Free of Domestic Violence" ... Busan Police Agency Launches 'Emergency Living Supplies Support Project for Domestic Violence Victims'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency plans to protect and support victims of domestic violence by providing emergency living kits to those using temporary shelters starting in April.
The emergency living kits were prepared after gathering opinions from Abuse Prevention Officers (APO) who suggested providing essential emergency supplies to victims using temporary shelters to escape domestic violence and abuse. After consulting with the 'Autonomous Police Committee,' a budget of 30 million KRW was secured to prepare 304 kits.
The kits are designed to be useful for victims who urgently use temporary shelters without prior preparation.
The contents include 16 types of daily necessities such as underwear, toiletries, instant porridge, and COVID-19 test kits, along with a domestic violence victim support guidebook created in consultation with related organizations such as the Family Human Rights Research Institute.
Based on this year’s implementation results, the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency plans to analyze the status of temporary shelter users and accompanying families with infants in detail to decide whether to expand the project by producing additional infant kits.
After conducting satisfaction evaluations with users, necessary daily necessities will be added or changed to continuously expand support for victims.
