[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Audi Volkswagen Korea has changed its name to Volkswagen Group Korea and plans to launch 22 new and facelift models across four brands. In particular, it will strengthen its electric vehicle lineup by newly introducing the Volkswagen 'ID.4' and four Audi electric vehicles.
Volkswagen Group Korea announced these plans on the 31st by unveiling its '2022 Key Plans and Future Mobility Strategy.'
The Volkswagen Group announced a global initiative to integrate organizations with multiple brands into the group. This aims to reduce complexity and unnecessary duplication across the entire group. According to this strategy, after 18 years of entering the Korean market, Audi Volkswagen Korea has changed its name to Volkswagen Group Korea.
This year, Volkswagen Group Korea will launch a total of 22 new and facelift models from its four brands under its umbrella: Volkswagen, Audi, Lamborghini, and Bentley. Through diversification of portfolios combining internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles, it plans to cover all segments. The electric vehicle lineup will also be strengthened. A total of five new models, including the Volkswagen ID.4 and four Audi electric vehicles, will be introduced. Through this, the modular electric vehicle platform MEB will be introduced to the domestic market for the first time.
Along with expanding the electric vehicle lineup, infrastructure and system construction will also be undertaken. The number of service centers equipped with electric vehicle repair capabilities will be expanded to 29 locations, and one high-voltage battery maintenance center will be established. Additionally, in terms of charging infrastructure, charger installations will continue within the dealer network. Among them, the goal is to increase the proportion of 150kW high-speed chargers to 23%.
