US "Preparing Additional Sanctions on Russian Military Supply Chains with Allies"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The United States and its allies have announced that they are preparing additional sanctions on Russia's military supply chain.
On the 29th (local time), Wally Adeyemo, U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, stated in a speech at Chatham House in London, UK, "We will take additional sanctions to weaken the Kremlin's warfighting capability," according to a report by The New York Times (NYT).
Deputy Secretary Adeyemo referred to the sanctions on Russian defense companies announced by the U.S. Treasury on the 24th, saying, "We plan to take measures to block the operation of key supply chains of Vladimir Putin's regime."
He also indicated that the additional sanctions could include alternative suppliers of military materials used by Russia. However, he did not mention specific methods or timing.
Adeyemo said, "The various sanctions imposed on Russia since the invasion of Ukraine have impacted the economy and the Kremlin," adding, "As long as the invasion continues, we will continue sanctions against Russia." He emphasized, "Multilateral cooperation is important for sanctions targeting Russia to be effective."
