Come Visit the Land of Dreams and Hope! ... Lotte World Adventure Opens
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] On the 31st, the theme park "Lotte World Adventure," a core facility of the Osiria Tourist Complex, will open.
The Osiria Tourist Complex is a mega project with a total budget of 6 trillion KRW, located on a 3.66 million square meter site in Daebyeon-ri and Sirang-ri, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun.
"Osiria" is derived from the first letters of the nearby attractions Orangdae and Sirangdae, aiming to become a four-season luxury integrated marine leisure city including accommodation, leisure, shopping, and theme park facilities.
The city plans to invigorate the southern region's tourism industry with the opening of "Lotte World Adventure" in the Osiria Tourist Complex, which is expected to attract 20 million visitors annually.
"Lotte World Adventure" will feature 17 types of facilities, including the Giant Dego and Giant Splash, which are being introduced for the first time in Korea.
Various performances will also be held, and as the anchor facility of the Osiria Tourist Complex aiming to become an international tourism city, it is expected to be a driving force for revitalizing the complex.
The Osiria Theme Park struggled for years to attract a developer until the GS consortium was selected as the developer in November 2014.
After a four-year preparation period, full-scale construction began in May 2019, starting with the upper amusement facilities.
The GS consortium invested 378 billion KRW in facility costs to create a large-scale theme park on a 500,000 square meter site within the Osiria Tourist Complex, including "Lotte World Adventure Busan" and "Skyline Luge" amusement facilities and ancillary facilities.
The city expects significant ripple effects on the Busan regional economy, including employment.
Besides the theme park, the golf course, which opened first in the tourist complex in 2014, is used by more than 100,000 people annually. In December of the same year, Lotte Outlet opened. The Busan National Science Museum, opened in 2015, attracts 1 million visitors annually.
Many tourists also visit the nearby coastal walking trails along the Gijang-eup beach and the Ananti Hilton and Ananti Penthouse.
Another core facility in the tourist complex, Aqua World, began construction in April last year and is currently under active construction, aiming to open in 2023.
Aqua World, covering 40,000 square meters with an investment of about 140 billion KRW, will feature an artificial lagoon, Korea's first underwater rooms, and tropical and subtropical jungle gardens.
Various types of accommodations, including residence-type living accommodations, tourist hotels, resort-style resorts, and villa-type condos, are also planned within the Osiria Tourist Complex.
The eco-friendly resort "Village de Ananti," located on a seaside hill with a site area of 160,000 square meters, is under construction with an investment of about 580 billion KRW, aiming to open next year.
The villa-type condo, a high-end resort facility, has been named "Banyan Tree Busan" in partnership with the global luxury hotel and resort Banyan Tree Group, and the contract has been completed.
"Banyan Tree Busan" will have a total of 195 rooms with an investment of about 400 billion KRW, aiming to open in 2024.
Busan Urban Corporation's analysis of the economic ripple effects from the Osiria Tourist Complex development estimates that construction investment will generate production inducement of 7.4 trillion KRW, employment inducement of about 46,000 people, and added value of 5.2 trillion KRW.
Regarding tax revenue, a total of 1.1 trillion KRW in direct and indirect tax effects is expected.
Prior to the opening on the 31st, Lotte World Adventure will hold an opening ceremony at 2 p.m. on the 30th and open the facilities to the public.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, "The Osiria Tourist Complex project, a key project for Busan, has reached a major milestone with the opening of Lotte World Adventure," adding, "The Osiria Tourist Complex is beginning a full-fledged takeoff to become a representative tourist destination of Korea beyond the region."
Busan City conducted a joint pre-inspection with related organizations in preparation for the opening of Lotte World.
Traffic measures such as operating a traffic countermeasures team before and after the opening, cracking down on illegal parking, deploying police personnel, and operating shuttle buses within the tourist complex have also been prepared.
