Sejong City Directly Stores and Manages Locally Excavated Artifacts
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 30th that the Sejong City Folk Museum has been designated by the Cultural Heritage Administration as a ‘Nationally Owned Cultural Heritage Custody and Management Delegated Institution.’
Nationally owned cultural heritage refers to artifacts discovered or excavated during surface and excavation surveys that are recognized for their historical, artistic, and academic value and are entrusted to the state for custody and management.
Until now, artifacts excavated within the jurisdiction have been nationally owned and stored at the National Gongju Museum. However, with the Folk Museum designated as a delegated institution, it will now be able to directly store and manage artifacts excavated locally.
With this delegated institution designation, the city can also secure locally excavated artifacts for the Local Relics Museum scheduled to open in 2025.
