Growing Importance of Home Boosts Interest in Home Interior... More Choosing 'Self' Options
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Since COVID-19, the importance of living spaces has increased, leading to a growing interest in home interior design (home + interior). Accordingly, the number of self-interior enthusiasts who choose to gradually redecorate their spaces to suit their living environments at a relatively low cost instead of expensive repairs through companies is also rising. As more people take up the hobby of purchasing unique accessories to decorate various parts of their homes, online malls are gaining popularity for everything from professional interior supplies to decorative items.
G9 recently analyzed sales of home repair and interior supplies over the past month (February 26 to March 28) and announced on the 30th that the basic items for home decoration, interior wallpaper and paint, increased by 66% and 28%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Sales of flooring materials, which can change the atmosphere of a home, surged by 157%, and decorative tiles also rose by 47%. Recently, many flooring materials and tiles that can be assembled have been released, making it relatively easy even for beginners. Bathroom grout repair products for bathroom maintenance increased sharply by 643%, and bathroom faucets rose by 135%. Shower curtains, which are regularly replaced, showed a high growth rate of 545%.
DIY furniture supplies, which allow customers to make their desired furniture themselves, also increased overall by more than double (114%). Specifically, DIY furniture wood grew by 286%, furniture decorative panels by 100%, and furniture handles by 37%.
More people are also seeking interior accessories such as lighting, picture frames, and vases. Living room lighting and wall lamps rose significantly by 82% and 260%, respectively, while mood lights and sleep lights that help change the atmosphere grew by 47%. Home gallery picture frames, which can decorate a home like a gallery, increased by 116%, interior clocks by 21%, and decorative accessories by 61%. Additionally, demand for items that can be used according to personal taste, such as vases (366%), candle holders (75%), miniatures (75%), and music boxes (150%), showed an overall upward trend.
Representative products sold on G9 include 'Groomy Adhesive Insulation Wallpaper,' 'Noru Paint Soon & Soo 100 Eco-friendly Water-based Paint,' 'Tivoli Assembled Flooring Decorative Tiles,' and 'Black Venus Bathroom Cabinet Interior Towel Storage.' Various accessories such as 'Philips LED System Ceiling Light,' 'Molly Hatch Vase,' 'Astronaut Night Light Candle Warmer Diffuser Mood Light,' and 'Deco House Golden Tree Picture Frame' are also available.

Recently, instead of spending high costs on companies, more people are decorating their homes little by little according to their own tastes while living in them. From basic interior products like wallpaper, paint, and tiles to various accessories such as lighting and picture frames, overall popularity is rising."
