A man in his 20s arrested for causing death by hitting a pedestrian while driving intoxicated

On the 29th, Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced that they have booked Mr. A on charges of dangerous driving causing death under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and are currently investigating.
Mr. A is accused of driving under the influence around 10:30 PM the previous night on a road in Wolsan-dong, Nam-gu, and fatally hitting pedestrian Ms. B (53, female) with his passenger car.
Ms. B was standing at the edge of the road when the accident occurred and was transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately passed away.
At the time of the accident, Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was at a level warranting license cancellation, and after causing the fatal accident, he also collided with seven motorcycles and one passenger car in succession.
Currently, Mr. A is reported to have sustained minor injuries and is receiving treatment after being transferred to a hospital.
The police plan to summon the suspect soon to investigate the detailed circumstances of the incident.
