Lee Dong-gi, President of COEX, Appointed as the 15th Chairman of the Korea Exhibition Industry Promotion Association
"Creating Exhibition Industry Business Models Leading Environmental Changes Such as Digital Transformation and Carbon Neutrality"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] The Korea Exhibition Industry Promotion Association announced on the 29th that Lee Dong-gi, CEO of COEX, has been appointed as the 15th president following the resolution of the 73rd board meeting and extraordinary general meeting.
The new president Lee graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in Economics and joined the Korea International Trade Association in 1992. He served as head of the Policy Cooperation Office, International Cooperation Office, Planning and Coordination Office, and Innovation Growth Headquarters.
In the late 1990s, he worked in the ASEM and Trade Center Expansion Project Task Force, and in the early 2000s, he was part of the Trade Association's Exhibition and Convention Team. He completed the Exhibition and Convention Management course at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Additionally, he holds a master's degree in Economics from Sungkyunkwan University and a doctorate in Trade from Konkuk University.
The new president Lee stated, “We will do our best together with member companies to create exhibition industry business models that lead environmental changes such as digital transformation and carbon neutrality, and to present innovation and vision across the industry.”
However, as this is a succession appointment, President Lee’s term will last only until August, the remaining term of the previous president.

The Korea Exhibition Industry Promotion Association carries out major projects such as supporting and evaluating domestic exhibitions, supporting overseas expansion of domestic exhibitions, building exhibition industry infrastructure, and exhibition education projects. Its members include 72 organizations such as trade promotion institutions like KOTRA and the Trade Association, exhibition centers like COEX and KINTEX, various industry groups, private exhibition organizers, and exhibition design, installation, and service providers.
