[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 29th that it won three Grand Prix awards and two Honorable Mentions at the ‘2022 Red Dot Award: Product Design’ hosted by the Design Center of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
The Red Dot Award is one of the world's top three design awards alongside the iF Design Award and the IDEA Design Award. Every year, it announces winners in three categories: product design, brand and communication design, and design concepts. The winners announced this time belong to the product design category.
Hyundai Motor won the Grand Prix in the ‘Automobiles and Motorcycles’ category with the newly launched multipurpose vehicle (MPV) model ‘Staria’ last year. The Grand Prix is the most prestigious award in the product design category of the Red Dot Award.
The Staria, which first applied Hyundai Motor’s future mobility design theme ‘Inside Out,’ realized a user-centered emotional space by harmonizing a spaceship-inspired exterior with a spacious interior and openness.
The GV60, Genesis brand’s first dedicated electric vehicle model, also won an Honorable Mention in the product design category of the Red Dot Award. The GV60 inherited the dual-line quad lamp design representing Genesis’s identity. Based on the design philosophy of ‘Dynamic Elegance,’ it showcased a sleek and dynamic coupe-style CUV appearance, earning recognition for design excellence. Additionally, it offers a differentiated luxury electric vehicle experience by incorporating numerous innovative technologies that interact with passengers.
On the 22nd, Kia’s EV6 won the Grand Prix in the ‘Automobiles and Motorcycles’ category and an Honorable Mention in the ‘Innovative Product’ category of the Red Dot Award product design division, while the ‘EV6 Unplugged Ground’ won the Grand Prix in the ‘Interior Architecture and Design’ category.
