Yeongam-gun Removes Disaster Risks by Dredging River Sediments
Promotion of Sediment Dredging in Small Rivers of 11 Eup and Myeon within the Jurisdiction
[Yeongam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, will remove disaster risk factors such as flooding of rivers during the rainy season by the end of next month.
The county is investing 770 million KRW in a project to dredge sediment and remove brushwood mainly along 13 km of rivers where flood cross-sections are insufficient due to sediment accumulation, posing a high risk of disaster.
In addition, to ensure the safety of residents from natural disasters and minimize property damage, the county plans to continuously inspect and maintain the area throughout the year to prevent disasters.
