Hwasun-gun Supports 'Ingredient Purchase Costs' for Certified Domestic Kimchi Using Restaurants
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] On the 28th, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will support the cost of purchasing ingredients for certified establishments applying for the domestic kimchi voluntary labeling system within the jurisdiction.
Domestic kimchi is about three times more expensive than imported kimchi, so the support for ingredient purchase costs was provided to reduce the burden on establishments and encourage the use of domestic kimchi.
The support targets 163 establishments certified as users of domestic kimchi by the Domestic Kimchi Voluntary Labeling Committee among rest and general restaurants under the Food Sanitation Act Enforcement Decree.
Up to 250,000 KRW per establishment will be supported.
Red pepper powder, salt, garlic, salted seafood, or finished kimchi products necessary for domestic kimchi production can be purchased at Namdo Market, an online shopping mall operated by Jeollanam-do.
Certified establishments wishing to receive support must apply to the industrial team of the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Center by the 5th of next month.
Non-certified establishments are not supported, so it is essential to complete the certification process for the domestic kimchi voluntary labeling system.
The domestic kimchi voluntary labeling system is a system designated by the Domestic Kimchi Voluntary Labeling Committee for restaurants that use kimchi supplied from manufacturers made with 100% domestic ingredients or make kimchi themselves using 100% domestic ingredients.
It has been introduced and implemented by Jeollanam-do since last year.
A county official said, “We expect this to encourage the consumption of agricultural and marine products from Jeollanam-do by the relevant businesses and revitalize the local economy. We hope this will help reduce the burden on dining establishments using domestic kimchi, which is more expensive than imported kimchi, even if only a little.”
