It is reported that Kim Ki-hyun, the floor leader of the People Power Party, urged the opposition secretaries of the standing committees to "all attend."
According to the National Assembly and industry sources on the 28th, since last week, secretaries of the National Assembly standing committees affiliated with the People Power Party have been attending transition committee briefings from the relevant government ministries for each standing committee. The ministry briefings began on the 22nd with the Ministry of National Defense under the Foreign Affairs and Security Subcommittee and will conclude on the 29th with the Veterans Affairs Office under the Social Welfare and Culture Subcommittee.
In a phone interview with this outlet, Floor Leader Kim Ki-hyun explained, "The reports received from the transition committee contain the framework for national governance over the next five years, so it is necessary for the ruling party to be familiar with the content. Our party has had its own party positions, and it seems necessary to provide comments on these aspects, so we decided to participate." This reflects an intention to prevent the transition committee from losing direction and going off track.
President-elect Yoon’s transition committee was originally organized on the 20th with 184 members, including 24 transition committee members, 76 expert members, and 73 working members. During this process, criticisms arose regarding neglect of real estate, education, and ICT sectors, and concerns were raised about the lack of practical skills among the 2030 youth aides. To address these issues, advisory members from various ministries and the National Assembly have joined additionally, leading to an internal consensus that the expanded transition committee needs to be tightly managed.
