Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok (Baemin) (CEO Kim Beom-jun), announced on the 28th that it held the '2022 Woahan Boss’s Children Scholarship' award ceremony on the 26th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The 'Woahan Boss’s Children Scholarship' is a scholarship program operated with 10 billion KRW from the 20 billion KRW 'Woahan Boss Care Fund' donated by Kim Bong-jin, Chairman of Woahan DH Asia. The Community Chest of Korea manages the fund, and the nonprofit educational social venture Jump is responsible for selecting scholarship recipients and managing the scholarship program.
In this year’s first round of support, 309 students were selected as scholarship recipients after document screening from a total of 1,177 applicants. High school students will receive an annual academic support grant of 3 million KRW, while university students will receive either 4 million KRW annually (general track) or 6 million KRW for housing support (housing independence track). Woowa Brothers plans to provide 2 billion KRW annually for the next five years, totaling 10 billion KRW.
The award ceremony was held simultaneously online and offline. More than 230 scholarship recipients and restaurant business owners who could not attend in person participated via online streaming. Baemin also decided to offer a small gift and the opportunity to participate in a capacity-building program currently being prepared to applicants who were not selected as scholarship recipients.
