Daejeon City Provides Electric Motorcycle Purchase Subsidy 'Up to 3 Million KRW per Unit'
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will begin accepting applications for the '2022 Electric Two-Wheeler Supply Project' starting from the 28th of this month.
The city plans to provide purchase subsidies for a total of 396 electric two-wheelers this year, with 278 units in the first half and 118 units in the second half.
Subsidies will range from a minimum of 850,000 KRW to a maximum of 3,000,000 KRW per unit. In particular, if a combustion engine two-wheeler is scrapped and replaced with an electric two-wheeler, an additional subsidy of up to 200,000 KRW will be provided within the support amount range for each vehicle type.
This year, according to the Ministry of Environment guidelines, 60% of the total support volume will be allocated to the general public, 20% to corporations and institutions, 10% to vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, families with multiple children, and those purchasing vehicles after scrapping combustion engine two-wheelers, and the remaining 10% will be separately allocated to delivery vehicle purchasers.
Applications for subsidy support can be made by Daejeon citizens aged 16 or older who have continuously resided in Daejeon for at least 90 days prior to the application date, or by corporations (including public institutions, local public enterprises, and individual business owners) with headquarters, branches, factories, or business sites in Daejeon.
Individuals can receive support for one unit without household restrictions, and corporations can receive support for up to five units. Applications can be submitted from the 28th of this month until December 9th by completing and submitting the electric two-wheeler purchase support application form to the manufacturer or importer after signing the purchase contract.
However, applications may close early if the budget is exhausted.
Selection of recipients will be determined in the order of purchase applications received through the zero-emission vehicle purchase subsidy support system, and if the vehicle is not delivered within two months after selection, the selection will be canceled.
Electric vehicle purchasers who receive subsidies must comply with a mandatory two-year operation period, and if the vehicle is sold within this period, all obligations (including the mandatory operation period and subsidy repayment obligations) will be transferred to the buyer.
