COVID-19 Confirmed Cases 335,580... Deaths 323 (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] As the Omicron variant continues to spread widely, the number of new COVID-19 cases recorded on the 26th reached 335,000.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, 335,580 new cases were added, bringing the total to 11,497,711.
The number of new cases decreased by 3,934 from the previous day's 339,514, marking the second consecutive day with cases in the 330,000 range.
Compared to a week ago on the 19th, when there were 381,413 cases, the number decreased by 45,833, and compared to two weeks ago on the 12th, when there were 383,653 cases, it decreased by 48,073.
The health authorities understand that the outbreak has passed its peak and the number of new cases is showing a gradual decline.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 the previous day was 323, which is 70 fewer than the day before (393).
Among the 323 deaths, the largest number was in those aged 80 and above with 223 deaths, followed by 55 in their 70s, 31 in their 60s, 9 in their 50s, 2 each in their 30s and 40s, and 1 in their 20s.
The cumulative death toll stands at 14,617, with a cumulative fatality rate of 0.13%.
The number of critically ill patients recorded that day was 1,164, an increase of 79 from the previous day (1,085).
The number of critically ill patients surpassed 1,000 on the 8th (1,007) and has remained in the four-digit range for 19 consecutive days.
Accordingly, intensive care unit beds are filling up rapidly.
As of midnight that day, the nationwide intensive care bed occupancy rate was 66.3%, up 0.7 percentage points from the previous day (65.6%).
The occupancy rate of semi-intensive care beds, which treat patients whose condition is improving from critical or who are at high risk of worsening, was 68.4%.
As of midnight that day, the number of patients receiving home treatment was 1,902,347, an increase of 13,572 from the previous day (1,888,775).
Among them, 275,255 are in the focused management group, including those aged 60 and above who receive health monitoring from home treatment management medical institutions, while the rest are in the general management group managing their health independently at home.
Regarding the infection routes of new cases, 335,531 were locally transmitted and 49 were imported cases.

Among the locally transmitted cases, 90,775 were in Gyeonggi, 64,025 in Seoul, and 16,785 in Incheon, with the metropolitan area accounting for 171,585 cases (51.1%).
