View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The purchase limit on COVID-19 self-test kits, which restricted individuals to buying up to five kits at pharmacies or convenience stores at a time, will be lifted. The price of 6,000 won per kit will be maintained, and the measure limiting sales locations to convenience stores and pharmacies will be extended until next month.
According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on the 27th, from today, the distribution improvement measures for COVID-19 self-test kits have been partially eased, allowing individuals to purchase as many kits as they want without quantity restrictions.
Additionally, self-test kit manufacturers had previously been allowed to produce and ship only bulk packaging units of 20 or more kits, but going forward, they will be permitted to manufacture and ship small packaging units of five or fewer kits. These small-packaged products will be sequentially supplied to pharmacies and convenience stores starting from the 1st of next month. The sales price will remain at the previously designated 6,000 won per kit.
This measure is based on the assessment that the distribution and supply of self-test kits have stabilized due to previous distribution improvement measures. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety expects that lifting some restrictions will greatly enhance the convenience of purchasing self-test kits.
