Wanju-gun, 1,270 Youth Housing Units Occupied in the First Half of This Year

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju-gun announced on the 25th that the move-in for 1,270 youth housing units, including Happy Housing and Newlywed Hope Town, will begin within the first half of this year.

According to the county, following the supply of 545 Happy Housing units for youth through national subsidy projects and LH cooperative projects in 2020, a total of 1,270 units will be additionally supplied on a large scale this year, including 450 Happy Housing units and 820 Newlywed Hope Town units.

Happy Housing and Newlywed Hope Town, which will be located in Sambong Welling City where transportation is convenient in all directions and various convenience facilities are fully equipped, began construction in 2019 and will have full-scale move-ins this month and in June, respectively.

Happy Housing is public rental housing constructed near workplaces and schools or in locations convenient for public transportation to ensure housing stability for youth (under 39 years old) such as university students, newlyweds, and early career workers, and is supplied at rents 20-40% lower than the surrounding market prices.

Newlywed Hope Town is a public housing specialized for newlywed couples, reflecting their preferences in floor plans and community facilities, and providing specialized services such as childcare and education.

These youth housing units have the advantage of proximity to a large-scale industrial complex spanning 10 million square meters behind Sambong Welling City, and are located just a 10-minute drive from the nearby Eco City, offering excellent transportation convenience for living close to workplaces.

In addition, Wanju-gun is continuously discovering projects to stabilize youth housing, such as attracting village maintenance-type public housing projects in three rural areas?Soyang, Sang-gwan, and Gosan?and newly starting construction of 300 Happy Housing units in Samnye-ri, Samnye-eup.

Wanju-gun plans to alleviate youth housing insecurity by implementing the ‘Low-income Tenant Deposit Support Project,’ which provides interest-free rental deposit support to reduce housing cost burdens for youth, and from April this year, additionally conducting the ‘Youth Monthly Rent Temporary Special Support’ that provides up to 200,000 KRW per month in rent support.
