[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Coupang, a leading e-commerce company, held a completion ceremony for the largest 'Daegu Advanced Logistics Center' in South Korea on the 24th at the National Industrial Complex in Dalseong-gun, Daegu.
Coupang earned the title of the first e-commerce tenant company in the complex.
The Daegu Advanced Logistics Center is a massive fulfillment center with a total floor area of 330,000㎡, spanning from one basement level to five above-ground floors, equivalent to the size of 46 soccer fields.
It is the largest among Coupang's logistics centers nationwide and the largest single logistics center in the entire domestic logistics industry.
The logistics center is being built with an investment of at least 320 billion KRW, equipped with the most advanced facilities in the country.
Considering additional investments, the production and value-added effects are expected to exceed 1 trillion KRW.
The center will complete equipment testing by the end of April and is expected to begin full-scale operations around the second half of next year. More than 2,500 new jobs are anticipated.
Additionally, it plans to optimize product management and delivery routes using AI and big data, and will be equipped with eco-friendly logistics equipment and smart logistics systems.
Currently, about 7,000 Daegu companies are trading or operating stores with Coupang, generating annual sales of several hundred billion KRW.
Park Dae-jun, CEO of Coupang, said, “Thanks to the active support and interest of Daegu City and various related organizations, we were able to see the fruition of the Daegu Center's completion. Coupang will become a stepping stone for regional economic development through e-commerce infrastructure worthy of the nation's largest and most advanced title.”
