Gwangju Buk-gu Wins 'Gwangju City's Only' Job Creation Award
Last Year Recognized as a Leading City in Job Creation with Presidential Award for Self-Sufficiency and Top Prize for Job Creation
Contributing to Overcoming Employment Crisis and Improving Residents' Quality of Life through Jobs for Middle-Aged and Senior Citizens
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] On the 24th, Buk-gu, Gwangju City announced that it won the Job Creation Grand Prize in the evaluation of the '27th Korea Local Autonomy Management Awards' hosted by the Korea Public Autonomy Research Institute.
The Korea Local Autonomy Management Awards, known as the most prestigious among local government evaluations, selects and awards local governments that have achieved results in regional development and administrative service innovation.
In this evaluation, Buk-gu was the only local government in Gwangju City to receive the award, marking its third consecutive year of winning.
Last year, Buk-gu was recognized as a leading city in job creation, receiving the Presidential Award in the self-support field, the Best Award in the Local Government Job Awards, selection as an excellent local government for fostering social enterprises, and designation as a social economy-friendly city.
It was also acknowledged for overcoming the employment crisis and improving residents' quality of life through job creation spanning generations, including jobs for middle-aged and elderly people.
In particular, since the 7th local government term, Buk-gu has been focusing on creating a city where youth stay by operating the Buk-gu Youth Center 'Cheongchunirang,' which opened during this period, and being selected for youth-led job projects and youth challenge support project contests in 2022.
Mayor Moon said, "We will continue to promote job creation and talent development projects that reflect the local employment market and field conditions."
