Mokpo Coast Guard Conducts Safety Inspection of Coastal Experience Activity Sites
Inspection of 11 Locations in the District Until the 29th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Mokpo Maritime Police Station announced on the 24th that it will conduct a comprehensive inspection of 11 coastal experience activity sites within its jurisdiction until the 29th of next month to prevent coastal accidents and ensure safe coastal experience activities.
Over the past five years, the fatality rate (16%) of coastal accidents (699 cases) nationwide is higher compared to ship accidents (2.2%) or traffic accidents (1.7%), indicating a need for heightened awareness regarding the potential for casualties.
Accordingly, the Maritime Police plans to analyze the vulnerabilities of coastal experience activity sites in preparation for the summer vacation season, when such activities increase, and to preemptively block risk factors that could lead to casualties during these experiences.
The inspection will cover ▲facility operation (insurance subscription and posting) ▲equipment operation (placement of safety equipment by type, such as underwater and general types) ▲personnel operation (deployment of safety management personnel, completion of safety education) ▲safety management (knowledge of relevant laws and compliance with various safety rules).
