"Will You Be a Chest Taping Model?" ... Busan Private University Professor Under Investigation for Repeated Sexual Harassment of Foreign Student
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] A professor at a private university in Busan is under police investigation for sexually harassing a foreign graduate student.
Professor A at Dong-Eui University proposed a foreign student to act as a model under the pretext of developing a chest taping physical therapy method. It is known that Professor A was dismissed last December after a disciplinary committee meeting.
Busan police announced on the 24th that in January, Professor A of the physical therapy department at a certain university was booked and is under investigation on charges of sexually harassing graduate student B from Europe and abusing his authority at work.
According to the police, B was continuously subjected to sexual harassment from April to August 2020 while complying with the professor’s demands to develop a chest taping method.
Professor A, who was B’s advisor, proposed that B become a model, saying, “I want to develop a chest taping method.”
B reluctantly accepted A’s persistent requests and endured sexual harassment remarks such as “European women are open-minded and easily take off their underwear in front of medical staff” and “Your chest is pretty.”
Afterward, A demanded taping from B, who was only wearing underwear, claiming hip pain. He also forcibly pressured B to “promise not to date a boyfriend” and reportedly said at a drinking party, “I imagined having sex with you.”
B reported these incidents to the university counseling center, and A was eventually dismissed. B, who came to Korea for a doctoral degree, withdrew after last semester.

B stated, “I am mentally distressed due to the harm caused by Professor A, and I am exhausted by the attitude of the university and the Ministry of Education during the handling of the case,” and claimed, “I came to Korea only to suffer sexual harassment instead of earning a degree.”
