LG CNS Launches AI Education Program for Youth
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] LG CNS is conducting an artificial intelligence (AI) education program called ‘AI Genius’ for middle school students as part of its social contribution efforts.
LG CNS announced on the 24th that starting with Inheon Middle School in Seoul, it will provide free AI education to about 3,000 middle school students across 30 schools by the end of the year. The 30 schools include rural area schools and special schools.
LG CNS plans to switch the AI Genius classes, which were previously conducted online remotely, to in-person classes starting this year. Classes will be conducted in strict compliance with quarantine guidelines in coordination with each school.
AI Genius is scheduled during regular middle school class hours and runs for 6 hours a day. The curriculum includes ▲ creating AI chatbots ▲ building AI autonomous vehicles ▲ planning MyData services. LG CNS has prepared various hands-on programs so that students can experience and learn about digital transformation (DX) new technologies.
LG CNS DX experts and experienced women professionals serve as AI Genius instructors. These experienced women, who have excellent capabilities from working at LG CNS and also have parenting experience, are considered ideal instructors for teaching AI education to students.
LG CNS plans to additionally conduct an advanced AI education program for high school students called ‘AI Genius Academy’ and ‘AI Special Lectures’ for teachers this year. Through its DX social contribution for youth, LG CNS has provided IT education opportunities to 132 schools and over 13,200 students so far.
Furthermore, LG CNS has recently partnered with six textbook publishers to develop a service that allows students to study English textbooks via a smartphone app. The LG CNS AI tutor app ‘Speaking Class’ will include 105 English textbooks and is scheduled to be offered free of charge to elementary, middle, and high school students nationwide starting in April.
Previously, LG CNS signed agreements with eight metropolitan and provincial offices of education in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan, Jeonnam, and others to provide AI tutor services free of charge to about 3.1 million elementary, middle, and high school students.
An LG CNS official emphasized, “We will continuously expand the support targets so that many young people can experience DX and grow into IT talents by utilizing LG CNS’s DX new technology capabilities.”
