World No. 2 Nelly Korda (USA, photo) has been absent from the field for an extended period. On the 23rd (Korean time), Golfweek reported, "Korda, who is undergoing treatment for thrombosis, will not participate in the first major of the LPGA Tour season, the Chevron Championship (total prize money $5 million), which opens on April 1 at Mission Hills Golf Club in Rancho Mirage, California," adding, "She did not submit an entry for the Chevron Championship, which closed on that day."
Korda has not competed in any tournaments since the Drive On Championship, which ended on the 6th of last month. She skipped the ‘Asian Swing’ held in Singapore and Thailand. After being diagnosed with thrombosis at a hospital on the 14th, she has been resting at home. She was also scheduled to appear at the JTBC Classic starting on the 24th but canceled her plans. Last year, she engaged in a fierce battle exchanging the ‘Number 1’ spot with Ko Jin-young (27). This year, she has participated in three tournaments but has yet to secure a victory.
