'Drunk Driving' Crashes into Street Trees and Vehicle Catches Fire... Man in His 50s Arrested
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A man in his 50s who hit a roadside tree while driving under the influence was arrested by the police.
The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on the 23rd that they have booked a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Mr. A is accused of driving in a heavily intoxicated state and hitting a roadside tree on the road in front of a factory in Yangsan-dong, Buk-gu, around 10:43 PM the previous day.
The accident caused sparks to fly from the vehicle's radiator, leading to a fire that was extinguished by firefighters who responded to the report.
The driver reportedly sustained minor injuries.
At the time of the accident, Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was found to be at the level warranting a driver's license suspension.
