[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Yeongdeok Lohas Marine Food Support Center is carrying out a project to support the manufacturing of new food products.

The center selected companies eligible for the Food Hub Complex Revitalization Project on the 21st, supporting new products that can be practically commercialized in the short term among food processing, materials, and food-related companies.

This project is supported by Gyeongbuk Province and Yeongdeok County and is organized by Yeongdeok Lohas Marine Food Support Center to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the marine and agricultural food sectors within Yeongdeok County, aiming to expand sales and strengthen competitiveness.

Yeongdeok County and the center formed a panel of five external expert evaluators to ensure fairness in selecting the target companies. Through a document evaluation, 10 businesses were selected.

The selected companies receive support up to 4 million KRW for prototype production, up to 4 million KRW for marketing and promotion, up to 4 million KRW for design improvement and product upgrading, and up to 1 million KRW for testing analysis and efficacy certification, according to evaluation criteria.

Nam Hee-dong, Director of the Marine Fisheries Division of Yeongdeok County, said, “We plan to focus on fostering strong small and medium enterprises in the local marine processed food sector and strengthening the competitiveness of the marine food industry, leading to increased corporate income. We will work with the center to carry out support projects to help the growth of the marine processing sector and enable entry into the sixth industrialization.”

Yeongdeok Lohas Marine Food Support Center was established in 2016 and has achieved results such as 17 cases of R&D prototype production, 8 patent applications, 2 patent registrations, 2 trademark applications, 2 trademark registrations, and 32 new product productions by 2021.
