Professors Park Hyun-jung and Baek Ji-hwan of Gwangju University Selected for 'First Research Project in Life'

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Professors Park Hyun-jung and Baek Ji-hwan of Gwangju University have been selected as recipients of the '2022 First Career Research Project' supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
According to Gwangju University on the 23rd, the 'First Career Research Project' is a government initiative designed to provide research opportunities to capable early-career researchers and support their early establishment in research.
Both professors will receive research funding of 90 million KRW each for three years until February 2025.
Professor Park will study the project titled "Development and Effectiveness of an Application (app) for Prevention and Management of Musculoskeletal Disorders among Manufacturing Industry Workers."
Through this research, Professor Park aims to enhance the self-health management ability of manufacturing industry workers against the risks of musculoskeletal burden tasks and find ways to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and reduce their prevalence in industrial workplaces.
Professor Park stated, "Based on the research results, I will contribute to improving the quality of life by maintaining and promoting the health of industrial workers."
Professor Baek Ji-hwan from the Department of Food and Nutrition will conduct research on the theme "Exploration of Novel Fermentation Strains Derived from Multi-Omics-Based Brewed Soy Sauce and Development of Health-Oriented Soybean Paste and Fermented Protein Materials Using Them."

Professor Baek said, "Through research on microbiome-based health-oriented soybean paste and functional protein material development, I aim to assist small and medium-sized soybean paste companies in adding high value and securing K-origin technology for functional protein materials."
