Seoul City Partners with Europe's Largest Fashion Event 'Tranoi' to Accelerate K-Fashion's Entry into Europe
Seoul City and TRANOI Fashion Industry Friendly Cooperation MOU Signed
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is partnering with ‘TRANOI,’ the official trade show of Paris Fashion Week, the fashion capital, and the largest fashion event in Europe, to support the global expansion of K-fashion into Europe.
According to Seoul City on the 23rd, the city and TRANOI will select domestic designer brands with potential in the European market and provide focused support to help them enter the European stage through fashion shows, exhibition participation, and strengthen global networking.
On the morning of the same day, Seoul City signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Development of Global Fashion Brands and the Fashion Industry’ at the Seosomun 2 Office Building of Seoul City Hall, attended by Hwang Bo-yeon, Director of Economic Policy, and Boris Provost, CEO of TRANOI.
This agreement is significant in that it expands the overseas advancement possibilities of the domestic fashion industry, which has been weakened by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and establishes a foundation for overseas exchange and cooperation for domestic fashion designers based in ‘Paris,’ the fashion capital.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ establishing a partnership to support the TRANOI trade show ▲ promoting collections and supporting market development for designers participating in Seoul Fashion Week ▲ ongoing exchange and cooperation (fashion network and information sharing). Seoul City plans to focus on expanding overseas business for domestic designer brands to attract investment and provide cooperative support. As TRANOI plays an important role in revitalizing Europe’s largest fashion business and discovering global brands, it is expected that this agreement will create synergy by strengthening long-term exchanges.
Meanwhile, during the 2022 F/W (Fall/Winter) Paris Fashion Week, Seoul City operated a ‘Seoul Fashion Week Exclusive Pavilion’ at TRANOI for the first time, featuring nine Korean designer brands.
Boris Provost, CEO of TRANOI Events, said, “Korean design, which has strong potential in the global fashion market, will be fully supported to become an opportunity for new designs and trends after the pandemic.”
