To this end, the Pohang-Gimpo route will be increased to two round trips per day starting from the 27th of this month, and a route bus connecting Pohang Gyeongju Airport, Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal, and Bomun Tourist Complex will operate in accordance with the increased schedule.
Currently, the Pohang-Gimpo route has one flight departing Pohang at 7:20 PM and arriving at Gimpo at 8:20 PM, but from the 27th, an additional flight departing at 10:15 AM and arriving at 11:15 AM will be added.
The existing flight will be changed to depart at 7:40 PM and arrive at 8:40 PM.
Also, the current single flight departing Gimpo at 8:25 AM and arriving at Pohang at 9:25 AM will have its schedule changed and increased to flights departing at 8:40 AM (arriving at 9:40 AM) and 2:25 PM (arriving at 3:25 PM).
The route bus between the airport and Gyeongju (Bomun Tourist Complex) will also operate three times a day (six round trips) from the 27th, with intervals adjusted according to the flight schedule.
Gyeongju, symbolizing the thousand-year-old capital of Silla, was assigned route number 1000 so that tourists can easily remember it.
Additionally, to ensure smooth shuttle bus operations, officials from Gyeongbuk Province, Pohang City, Gyeongju City, and the airport corporation attended a joint pre-inspection during a shuttle bus trial run on the afternoon of the 21st.
Following the trial run, a meeting involving airport and tourism officials was held in the Pohang Airport conference room to discuss the revitalization of the airport and tourism following the name change to Pohang Gyeongju Airport.
The meeting also discussed major issues such as public promotion of the airport name change, development of tourism programs linked to Pohang-Gyeongju Airport, and maintenance of facilities related to the name change.
In particular, to expand demand from metropolitan tourists, various ideas and opinions on tourism product development were exchanged, and a close mutual cooperation system was established to pledge a turning point for regional development.
Park Chan-woo, head of the Gyeongbuk Province Integrated New Airport Promotion Team, said, “This is an important time when we must once again unite our efforts to maximize the effect of the airport name change,” adding, “We will do our best to make Pohang Gyeongju Airport an economic hub leading regional development and the tourism industry.”

The airport name change is a project that the province has prioritized and promoted together with Pohang and Gyeongju cities for regional win-win development through revitalization of the tourism industry. According to the airport name management guidelines, it passed the final review by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Aviation Policy Committee on February 9 and will be officially used as the name from July 14.
