Heo Seok, Mayor of Suncheon, Holds Final Report Meeting on Design Service for New City Hall Construction with Citizens' Involvement
New Government Building Expected to Serve as a Communication Space for the Original Downtown
Construction to Begin in the Second Half of This Year, Completion Targeted for 2025
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 21st, Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do held the "Suncheon City New City Hall Construction Project Design Service Final Report Meeting" at the city hall's small conference room.
The final report meeting, attended by Mayor Heo Seok, senior officials, and representatives from the design service company Proud Architects Co., Ltd., included a presentation of the design plan covering comprehensive layout, spatial composition, landscaping, and scenic planning, followed by a Q&A session to address detailed inquiries.
The new city hall will be constructed on a site area of 26,758㎡ with a total floor area of 47,000㎡, consisting of one basement floor and six above-ground floors.
Along with the new city hall, the Culture Station, a living SOC complex project, will be developed with a total floor area of 12,000㎡ and five above-ground floors, comprising six types of cultural complex spaces including a cultural life center, health life support center, family center, local food, second career center, and parking lot.
The city plans to complete the basic and detailed design within 14 months by next month through coordination of details for a refined design, start construction in the second half of the year, and aim for completion in 2025.

Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon said, "Since the new city hall construction has involved citizens' participation from the establishment of the basic plan to design competition and design service, I hope that continuous communication will be maintained until the design is finalized so that valuable opinions are not overlooked and are carefully reviewed."
