[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] As of 9 PM on the 20th, more than 200,000 COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide. This is about 110,000 fewer than yesterday.
According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 204,054 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
This is 114,784 fewer than the 318,838 cases recorded at the same time the previous day, and 97,490 fewer compared to 301,544 cases recorded at the same time one week ago on the 13th.
The 9 PM tally has dropped to a level similar to 204,050 cases reported two weeks ago on the 6th, after hitting a record high of 549,854 cases on the 16th and maintaining daily counts in the 300,000 range.
The government forecasts that the domestic COVID-19 outbreak has passed its peak and expects a downward trend to begin by mid-next week.
As of 9 PM, new confirmed cases were 108,488 (53.2%) in the metropolitan area and 95,566 (46.8%) in non-metropolitan areas.
