Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Announces Various and Convenient '119 Reporting Methods'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 20th, the Nambu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it is promoting the ‘119 Multi-Media Reporting Service,’ which allows reporting of disasters such as fires, rescues, and emergency medical services through various media.
The ‘119 Multi-Media Reporting Service’ refers to a service that enables reporting via video or text (SMS, MMS), or the 119 reporting app in cases where communication is difficult, such as for hearing-impaired individuals or when voice calls are not possible.
For text reporting, sending a message to the 119 number will be received by the 119 control center, and photos and videos can be attached.
For video call reporting, pressing 119 and then the video call button transmits the caller’s video and audio, allowing foreigners who have difficulty communicating or hearing-impaired individuals to report using gestures, sign language, or notes.
For app reporting, users can download and install the ‘119 Report’ app and select the reporting service. GPS location information is sent to the control center, enabling accurate location confirmation of the reporter, which is useful in cases such as unfamiliar routes or mountain rescue incidents where the exact location is unknown.
