2022 'Manufacturing Data Shared Utilization Platform Technology Development' Project Call for Proposals
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Kwon Chil-seung, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) announced on the 20th that it will promote the 'Manufacturing Data Joint Utilization Platform Technology Development Project' to enable numerous manufacturing SMEs to accelerate digital transformation by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and data.
The Ministry has selected 11 fields of AI joint utilization models that are highly applicable in manufacturing sites. Following the technology development for 5 items last year, this year it will start a technology development contest for 6 items on the 21st. This project aims to develop a data system and solutions that can be jointly utilized by SMEs and load them onto the 'Korean AI Manufacturing Platform (KAMP),' with approximately KRW 5.34 billion to be supported for 6 items, and up to KRW 2.1 billion per project.
Institutions such as research institutes, universities, and SMEs wishing to participate can freely select projects within the 6 items as a consortium including manufacturing SMEs, and the project announcement will be from the 21st to the 19th of next month, with project applications accepted from the 8th to the 19th of next month.

In particular, among the 6 fields, in the simulation field, a technology development item combining AI and the metaverse will be derived. Through this, the metaverse, which has recently attracted attention as a next-generation technology, will be actively applied to intelligent factories (smart factories). Lee Hyun-jo, head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Planning Group at the Ministry, said, "We hope to contribute to strengthening AI-based capabilities and improving the constitution of manufacturing companies, and we will actively support accelerating the digital transformation of the manufacturing SME field."
