Lotte Duty Free, 1 Million KRW Gift for First Customer Spending Over $5,000 at Downtown Store
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lotte Duty Free announced that it has specially awarded ‘LDF PAY (Lotte Duty Free payment points)’ worth 1 million KRW to the first domestic customer who purchased over 5,000 USD.
According to Lotte Duty Free on the 20th, this surprise event was planned to commemorate the abolition of the domestic purchase limit at duty-free shops for the first time in 43 years.
On the day of the abolition, the 18th, the first customer who purchased over 5,000 USD appeared at Lotte Duty Free. Mr. Woo, who shopped at the Myeongdong main store, received not only 1 million KRW worth of LDF PAY through this special event but also an upgrade to the highest offline membership tier, LVVIP, at Lotte Duty Free.
On the 19th, a customer who purchased 5,000 USD also appeared at the Lotte Duty Free COEX branch. The winner, Mr. Han, said, “I bought duty-free products as I am going on an overseas trip for vacation,” and added, “I am very happy as it feels like daily life is returning.”
At the award ceremony that day, No Byung-kwon, manager of Lotte Duty Free COEX branch, said, “With the abolition of the duty-free purchase limit and the quarantine exemption for overseas arrivals who have been vaccinated starting from the 21st, the duty-free shops are finally regaining vitality,” and added, “We plan to continue thorough quarantine measures, such as frequent disinfection, so that customers can shop safely.”

Meanwhile, Lotte Duty Free has started full-scale customer service by conducting the largest domestic marketing campaign since the outbreak of COVID-19, offering up to 2 million KRW in LDF PAY based on purchase amounts to domestic customers who buy products excluding non-gift brands at downtown stores, and selling products of famous overseas brands with discounts of up to 80%.
