Violations Found in Inspection... Administrative Actions Such as Prosecution and Fines (Penalties) Planned
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City will conduct the '2022 First Half Village Bus Safety Management Joint Inspection' from April 28 to May 10.
This inspection is designed to prevent safety accidents on village buses, which operate under more challenging conditions than city buses and have a higher risk of causing major accidents in case of an incident. It will also check compliance with COVID-19 prevention measures such as the provision of hand sanitizers, aiming to enhance the safety and convenience of village bus users.
The joint inspection will be conducted by the city, relevant district and county offices, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority Busan Headquarters, and the Village Bus Association. The inspection targets 281 buses from 32 companies out of 571 buses from 61 village bus companies. The inspection team will visit the garages and terminal points of village bus operators to check vehicle safety management status and compliance by transport operators and drivers.
The city plans to focus on ▲ illegal vehicle modifications, vehicle age exceeding limits, and other vehicle safety management conditions ▲ hygiene and cleanliness such as damage to vehicle interior seats ▲ violations of the Passenger Transport Service Act and the Motor Vehicle Management Act, including driver qualification requirements and training status.
Based on the inspection results, operators found violating regulations will face administrative actions according to the Motor Vehicle Management Act and the Passenger Transport Service Act. In the second half of last year’s village bus safety management inspection, 47 violations were detected, resulting in 2 fines, 35 improvement orders, and 10 on-site corrections.
