Gwangju Seo-gu to Hold 'Dialogue with Residents' Until Next Month 1st

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 18th that it will conduct the ‘2022 Dialogue with Residents’ by visiting 18 neighborhoods in the district sequentially until the 1st of next month to communicate and have conversations with residents at the site of their daily lives.

This year’s ‘Dialogue with Residents’ was prepared as an opportunity to share the status of district administration under the 7th local government and the achievements of village activities so far, to encourage residents’ interest and participation in solving village problems and regional development.

Starting with Pungam-dong on the day, the dialogue with residents will proceed with a schedule to visit all 18 neighborhoods in Seo-gu until Seochang-dong on the 1st of next month, focusing on discussions and policy proposals regarding local issues and village development rather than repetitive and routine requests.

Regarding residents’ long-standing village projects, the district plans to actively support by reviewing the reflection of these projects in next year’s main budget after residents maintain continuous interest and establish concrete implementation plans.

Last year, a total of 193 resident opinions were collected from 45 organizations in the district, of which 57 were immediately addressed after on-site inspections, and 115 were promoted through review.

Twenty-one cases were not feasible to proceed due to circumstances, and the reasons were explained and understood through mutual communication with the proposers and organizations, thereby enhancing trust between the district office and residents.

A Seo-gu official said, “Dialogue with residents has played a significant role as a communication channel between the district and residents,” and added, “We will listen closely to various opinions from residents for the development of the village and reflect them in district administration.”
