Cheong Wa Dae Holds NSC Standing Committee Meeting to Review North Korea's Missile Launch Trends
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The government announced on the afternoon of the 17th that it held a Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office.
The attendees reviewed recent missile launch trends by North Korea and agreed to maintain a firm state of readiness based on the enhanced response capabilities of our military and the ROK-US alliance, while closely communicating with the United States and the international community to take necessary measures.
They also reviewed the situation in Ukraine and international trends, and agreed to continue closely monitoring developments to minimize damage to our citizens and businesses and to take necessary actions accordingly.
The attendees also conducted a comprehensive review of the progress in returning US Forces Korea bases and agreed to closely consult with the US side to actively promote the creation of Yongsan Park and regional economic revitalization through the return of some USFK bases, including part of Yongsan Base, within the first half of this year.
