High Satisfaction with Basic Farming Skills Training for New Farmers Returning to Rural Areas
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Boseong County announced on the 17th that it has been conducting basic farming education for new farmers returning to farming and rural areas since the 7th.
This year, the basic farming skills education for new farmers will be conducted in two sessions: the first and second half of the year.
In the first half of the year, 28 new farmers who have moved to Boseong County within the last five years are participating, and the education is being conducted through theoretical and field practice sessions until the 25th.
To prevent COVID-19, theoretical education is conducted through non-face-to-face real-time online courses, while field practice sessions are carried out in compliance with quarantine guidelines.
The theoretical education consists of courses such as ▲Land Bank, ▲Guidance on Returning Farmer Policy Projects, ▲Conflict Management for Returning Farmers, ▲Land Act that Farmers Should Know, and ▲Writing a Returning Farmer Startup Plan. The field practice education supports programs such as ▲Safe Use and Operation Practice of Agricultural Machinery and ▲Visiting Senior Returning Farmers' Farms to Learn Returning Farmer Stories.
In particular, thorough measures will be taken for agricultural machinery safety education and operation practice to prevent agricultural machinery safety accidents.
Kim, a trainee participating in the education, expressed satisfaction with the basic farming skills education for new farmers, saying, “When I came to the countryside and felt overwhelmed, through the education, I learned not only farming methods but also rural culture and lifestyle, which greatly helped me adapt and settle.”
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center stated, “We will do our best to operate the education so that returning farmers and rural migrants can practically settle in our region.”
