[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] On the morning of the 17th, KakaoPay Securities experienced an access failure, causing inconvenience to users in stock trading.
At around 11:07 AM, KakaoPay Securities issued an urgent notice through the KakaoPay app stating, "Currently, access to some services is not smooth," and advised users to "use the phone customer center for orders and business processing." They added, "We apologize for the inconvenience. We will notify you again once normal processing is restored."
The service disruption continued as of 11:40 AM. KakaoPay Securities said they are checking the cause and whether normal service will be restored.

Since February, KakaoPay Securities has started an MTS (Mobile Trading System) service on the KakaoPay platform that allows investment in domestic stocks, US stocks, and ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds). Because the MTS is integrated into the KakaoPay platform, it can be used through the 'My Stocks' tab in the KakaoPay app without a separate app. It also includes fun elements such as changing Kakao Friends themes based on profitability. Unlike Toss Securities, which targets mainly people in their 20s and 30s, KakaoPay Securities’ MTS targets all age groups and is evaluated to contain easy yet sophisticated information.
