Jinju City Promotes 'Small and Medium Enterprise Work Environment Improvement Project' to Overcome COVID-19 Slump
Supplementary Budget Increased by 150 Million Won
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, is expanding the 'Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Work Environment Improvement Project' aimed at enhancing worker welfare and improving labor conditions.
On the 16th, Jinju City announced that it will allocate an additional 150 million KRW in the first supplementary budget.
The SME Work Environment Improvement Project supports manufacturing companies that have been operating for more than one year after factory registration by covering 50% of the total project cost, up to a maximum of 20 million KRW, for improving factory work environments and renovating worker welfare spaces.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic causing business stagnation, the city increased the project budget from the original 200 million KRW by an additional 150 million KRW in the supplementary budget to help companies focus on business activities through improvements in work and welfare environments.
Through a public announcement in February, 24 companies submitted 14 project plans for work environment improvements and 18 for welfare space improvements. After on-site inspections and reviews, the final project recipients will be selected by the end of April.
This project started in 2020 and has selected a total of 29 companies to date. It has supported 13 cases in the work environment improvement field and 19 cases in the welfare space improvement field, receiving great responses from companies and workers alike.
