Two Subcontractors of Hyunsan Related to 'Gwangju Collapse Accident' Face Arrest Warrants
Warrant Hearing Scheduled This Week
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Two subcontractor officials have been additionally indicted with arrest warrants in connection with the collapse accident at Hwajeong I-Park in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
The investigation headquarters for the collapse accident at the newly constructed apartment in Seo-gu, Gwangju (Gwangju Police Agency) announced on the 16th that they have applied for arrest warrants for the site manager and executive director of the subcontractor, who are suspected of professional negligence resulting in death and injury.
The subcontractor received the contract from the main contractor, Hyundai Development Company, and carried out concrete pouring work.
The prosecution accepted the police's warrant application and has filed it with the court. Their pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) is expected to be held within this week.
In addition, the hearing for five key suspects from Hyundai Development Company, for whom arrest warrants have been requested, will be held at 11 a.m. on the 17th at the Gwangju District Court.
An official from the investigation headquarters stated, "We are considering additional detention measures," and added, "The exact scale cannot be confirmed yet."
So far, a total of 20 people have been criminally charged in this case, suspected of violating their duty of care at work, which led to the deaths of six workers during the operation.

The accident occurred around 3:46 p.m. on January 11, when part of Building 201 of the apartment collapsed from the 38th floor down to the 23rd floor.
