On the 16th, the Ministry of Education announced that based on opinions discussed on-site during the emergency inspection of schools affected by the Uljin wildfire, it has prepared a 'visiting medical service' for health checkups and treatment, as well as plans to support school environment improvements.
With support from two teams from Kyungpook National University Hospital, five schools severely damaged by the wildfire will be visited on the 17th, followed by respiratory disease examinations and consultations for all students. An additional medical team from Chungbuk National University Hospital will conduct further treatment on the 24th to ensure no student is left without medical services.
Programs to prevent trauma from disaster accidents will also be operated for students and guardians affected by the wildfire. A team composed of disaster psychology experts and child and adolescent specialists will provide customized psychological stabilization support programs, age-specific psychological stabilization education, and supplies.
To improve indoor air quality contaminated by soot or burnt odors due to the fire, the Ministry of Education will enhance the educational environment at 10 schools using professional cleaning companies. In cooperation with metropolitan and provincial offices of education, necessary support such as air purifier filter replacements will be provided.
