HJ Heavy Industries Wins Phase 2 Construction Contract for Janghang Line Improvement
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] HJ Heavy Industries announced on the 16th that it has been selected as the successful bidder for the 'Janghang Line Improvement Phase 2 Section 2 Roadbed Construction Project.'
This project, commissioned by the Korea Rail Network Authority, involves constructing a double-track railway section approximately 8,556 meters long, extending from Hongseong-eup, Hongseong-gun, Chungnam to Jupo-myeon, Boryeong-si, Chungnam. The total contract amount is about 127.3 billion KRW, with HJ Heavy Industries acting as the lead contractor holding a 70% stake. The construction period is 68 months from the start date.
This project was promoted as part of the government's 2nd National Railway Network Construction Plan to establish a West Sea high-speed railway network and promote balanced regional development.
An HJ Heavy Industries official stated, "Our company is a traditional leader in the public construction sector, and our extensive experience and know-how from numerous railway construction projects were the driving forces behind winning this contract."

HJ Heavy Industries has participated in projects such as the Gyeongbu High-Speed Railway, Wonju~Gangneung High-Speed Railway, Seongnam~Yeoju Double-Track Electric Railway, and Ulsan~Pohang Double-Track Electric Railway. Currently, it is involved in the Chuncheon~Sokcho railway roadbed construction and the Samsung~Dongtan Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX-A) project. Last year, HJ Heavy Industries ranked 5th in the industry for public construction contract achievements. In January this year, the company changed its name from Hanjin Heavy Industries to HJ Heavy Industries for the first time in 32 years.
