Chungnam Selected in Ministry of Environment's 'Aging Water Supply Maintenance' Contest... Secures 13.3 Billion KRW in National Funding
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 16th that Boryeong City and Buyeo County were selected for the Ministry of Environment's '2022 Additional New Public Contest Project for Old Water Supply Maintenance.'
A total of 46 local governments nationwide applied for 50 projects in the contest. The Ministry of Environment selected 20 final projects by evaluating the aging of facilities, risk of accidents, urgency of improvement, and other factors.
In Chungnam, the Boryeong Seongju Water Purification Plant Improvement Project and the Buyeo Hongsan-myeon Old Water Supply Maintenance Project were included in the final project implementation list.
According to the selection results, the province secured 13.3 billion KRW in national funds, which will be matched with local funds to promote the projects.
First, the Boryeong Seongju Water Purification Plant Improvement Project will be carried out with 4.7 billion KRW in national funds plus 4.7 billion KRW in local funds, totaling 9.4 billion KRW.
The Buyeo Hongsan-myeon Old Water Supply Maintenance Project will proceed with 8.6 billion KRW in national funds plus 8.6 billion KRW in local funds, totaling 17.2 billion KRW.
The province plans to secure additional national funds in the future to increase the water flow rate within the new project areas to 85%, establishing a safe tap water supply system.
Additionally, it will seek ways to lead a virtuous cycle in waterworks projects by reinvesting the saved maintenance and management costs into facility improvements.
