According to a key aide of President-elect Yoon on the 15th, Park Jin, a member of the People Power Party, has been confirmed as the head of the special envoy delegation to be sent to the United States.
Representative Park is a prominent diplomat within the party. He passed the foreign service exam in 1977 and began his career as a Ministry of Foreign Affairs official. He served as the overseas public relations secretary at the Blue House during the Kim Young-sam administration. After entering the 16th National Assembly in 2002, he held positions such as chairman of the Korea Parliamentary Diplomacy Forum, vice chairman of the Korea-US Parliamentary Diplomacy Council, vice chairman of the International Democrat Union, and chairman of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee. In August 2008, during a visit to the United States to attend the Korea-US Parliamentary Diplomacy Council, he had a private meeting and conversation with then Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joe Biden, the current President of the United States.
As for the EU special envoy, it is known that the possibility of appointing an outsider is being considered.
The dispatch of special envoys is expected to take place in early to mid-next month.
President-elect Yoon has decided not to send a special envoy to Russia, considering the situation of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Regarding China and Japan, it is understood that since various diplomatic issues are piling up and many parts require full coordination after the new government takes office, there is no urgent reason to send a special envoy delegation in the capacity of president-elect.
