On the same day, KB Securities held a certificate delivery ceremony for joining the UNGC at its Yeouido headquarters, attended by KB Securities CEOs Park Jungrim and Kim Seonghyun, and Kwon Chuntaek, Secretary General of the UNGC Korea Association, among other officials.
The United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest voluntary international agreement on corporate social responsibility aimed at sustainable development. Approximately 19,000 members worldwide, including governments, companies, civil society, and organizations, participate.
Member companies must comply with the 10 principles across four areas (human rights, labor, environment, anti-corruption), fulfill their social responsibilities, and submit an annual Communication on Progress (COP) report to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Kwon Chuntaek, Secretary General of the UNGC Korea Association, said, "We appreciate KB Securities, which is leading the domestic securities industry, for actively participating in initiatives and practicing ESG management," and added, "We hope KB Securities becomes a company that leads social responsibility and serves as a stepping stone for the growth of customers and social development along with its own growth."
KB Securities plans to internalize the UNGC's core values of the '10 principles across 4 areas' into its management activities and disclose sustainable management performance to stakeholders. In particular, KB Securities established the first ESG committee within the board of directors among domestic securities firms in 2020 and created a dedicated organization, executing key strategic tasks centered on the 'ESG + I (Investment)' strategy.
As a result, KB Securities received the highest grade of A in the governance sector evaluation by the Korea Corporate Governance Service last year. It also earned an AA rating in ESG evaluation by Sustainvest, recognizing its faithful practice of ESG management externally.
